So in a nutshell, this is how it is. I think many times we as people want so much for good in the world, but are often times discouraged by how to help. Do we give money to the man on the street, to we give to organizations like the red cross and hope our money is really going to fund good projects? I met someone special last year and have been blown away by what she is doing. She has founded a social media philanthropic organization called tippingbucket - www.tippingbucket.org. Here's how it works....
Let's say Nick living in New York sees a need for kids in his neighborhood to get books, or let's say Magugu in Africa doesn't have water in his village...whatever it is - how do they get money to solve their needs? They aren't a big organization and going through the bureaucracy of some big organization may take years...but they need help now, and wether it's Nick or Magoogoo, they are ready now. Many times I meet people who say I need to be making more money to give to really make a difference, or we are too young to make a difference, or whatever....
....enter the tippingbucket. They connect willing donors with these projects and get them the funding they need - starting at $1. Here's the kicker though, the community pools there money and the only way the project is funded is if it gets every last cent it needs or everyone is not charged. Hence the tagline - change the world or your money back. This makes it so that the project must be well thought out, organized, and have everything in place so that all is needed is the money from people who believe in it. TippingBucket offers that support and consulting so that they are successful. It's really an amazing idea that combines social media and networking with what many want to do but don't have the outlet to do...GIVE. We all want to help, and this site is cultivating a generation of people who are willing to say - I can change the world...even if it's a $1...I will give.
So....here is where I need you....
Right now they are in the running for $250k from Pepsi. While tippingbucket will go forward no matter what (they have successfully tipped 20 projects this year and helped THOUSANDS of people - my friend Lauren Bluth was a part of one, and raised tens of thousands of dollars for the projects), tippingbucket would greatly benefit from this money, which is planned to help the organization grow and get the needed talent in the doors to make this even more successful and expand. They have other funding but would greatly benefit from this extra boost.
